POSITION:   Patient Relation Rep IV           Grade 59

SALARY:       Hiring $28,030          Min $29,430.00 Max $42,044.00                  

PRIMARY PURPOSE:  

The major purpose of this position is determining patient eligibility for all programs, collecting fees, preparing monthly statements for patients, billing insurance, billing contracts, and preparing daily reports for deposits for each clinic.  Employee must have a general knowledge of all aspects of each program in order to be of assistance if called upon by patients, nurses, nurse practitioners, employees, or administration.  Employee must have excellent telephone skills, and be able to perform under pressure on a daily basis.  Employee will assist in processing vital records.  Employee must be able to deal with irate patients while collecting fees and determining eligibility.  Balance daily reports with deposit and balance cash drawer.  This should be done before employee leaves for the day.

    MINIMUM EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE: 

Graduation from high school and demonstrated possession of knowledge, skills and abilities gained through at least two years of office assistant/secretarial experience; or and equivalent combination of training and experience.
Ability to read, interpret and follow established policies and procedures related to billing/reconciliation of accounts, eligibility clinic policies and procedures. Excellent public contact skills are necessary to elicit information from adolescents, poverty-stricken, low educated or non-English speaking population. Good oral and written communication skills are important. Must possess general knowledge of office practice procedures and the ability to type with accuracy at the speed required by the position.
