Essential Duties and Tasks

The Columbus County Health Department is seeking a Nutritionist I to serve in the Women, Infants, and Children (WIC) Program.
This is an entry-level nutrition position responsible for providing professional nutrition services and education to program participants.

Primary responsibilities include:

• Interviewing and assessing the nutritional status of pregnant and postpartum women, infants, and children.
• Providing appropriate nutrition counseling and education.
• Certifying eligible clients for WIC benefits and documenting all services in the electronic medical record.
• Supporting WIC operations through accurate recordkeeping, participant follow-up, and client communication.

Minimum Training and Experience

• Graduation from a program accredited by the Accreditation Council for Education in Nutrition and Dietetics (ACEND); or
• Dietetics Technician, Registered (DTR) with a Bachelor’s degree in any subject area from an accredited four-year institution; or
• Bachelor’s degree in Dietetics, Public Health Nutrition, or Community Nutrition from an accredited four-year institution.
