Essential Duties and Tasks
The Columbus County Health Department is seeking a Dental Assistant to provide professional clinical support to the dentist and assist with patient care in the Mobile Dental Clinic.
Primary responsibilities include:
- Assisting the dentist chairside during dental procedures.
- Performing coronal polishing, oral hygiene instruction, and topical fluoride application.
- Processing and mounting dental radiographs.
- Following OSHA guidelines and performing all required asepsis and infection control procedures.
- Documenting all patient information in electronic dental records.
- Maintaining and caring for dental equipment and instruments.
- Preparing and securing equipment and supplies for mobile clinic relocation.
- Following daily, weekly, bi-monthly, monthly, quarterly, and yearly infection control and maintenance protocols.
Minimum Training and Experience
- Graduation from an approved dental assistant course; or
- Graduation from high school and one year of on-the-job training as a dental assistant; and
- Completion of required x-ray training when applicable.
