Position: Seasonal Recreation Maintenance Assistant— Part Time/Temporary - Hourly pay is $13 an hour.
- General Statement of Duties
Performs unskilled and semi-skilled work in the maintenance and care of the grounds, playing fields, parks, playgrounds, and related County recreational properties. Work is 
performed in varying weather conditions.
- Duties and Responsibilities
Operates a variety of mowers and equipment in grass cutting and trimming on recreational areas and other County owned property. Operates chain saws, weed eaters and other light equipment to cut, prune and trim shrubbery and trees; rakes leaves, and removes fallen limbs and trash. Repairs and installs chain link fencing; builds baseball backstops; builds picnic tables; constructs shelters and roofs; and installs and repairs playground equipment. Checks equipment and ensures proper operation and may perform minor troubleshooting and maintenance. Sets up and dismantles various facilities for special events and County sponsored functions. Prepares playing fields for games to include mowing, painting, regulation lines, moving bleachers. Preforms other related duties.
- Physical Requirements
Must be able to physically perform the basic life operational functions of climbing, balancing, stooping, kneeling, crouching, crawling, reaching, standing, walking, pushing, pulling lifting, feeling, talking, hearing, and repetitive motions. Must be able to perform medium work exerting up to 50 pounds of force occasionally and/ or up to 20 pounds of force frequently and/ or up to 10 pounds of force constantly to move objects. Must possess the visual acuity to operate mobile equipment such as the mowers and chain saws in a safe manner and to inspect work quality.
Desirable Education and Experience
Graduation from high school and some experience in maintenance work related to a park setting; or an equivalent combination of education and experience. Possession of a valid North Carolina driver's license.
