Communicable Disease Clinic is available Monday through Friday, 8:00-4:00 for the investigation and follow up of communicable diseases. 

Sexually Transmitted Disease clinics are held Monday – Friday 8:00am-3:00pm appointment recommended.  

Infectious Disease Clinic is on the third Wednesday and Friday of each month by appointment only.  This clinic is in conjunction with New Hanover Regional Medical Center.

Travel clinic is offered in Adult Health to provide immunizations, dietary and disease information to people traveling to other countries.  Appointment necessary.

Tuberculosis clinic provides screening for TB through skin tests and screening forms.  Positive results require further testing, and if necessary, treatment will be initiated.  The TB nurse will monitor each case closely.  TB Test are given Monday, Tuesday, and Friday all day.  And on Wednesdays til noon. Appointments recommended.

BCCCP program provides a pap smear and a mammogram at no cost to women 40-64 that meet income requirements and have no insurance. By appointment only.

Family Planning Clinics - All visits are by appointment:

Pregnancy Test are walk-ins M-F 8-3:30, appointments recommended.

Immunization clinics are held daily from 8:00 to 4:00 and all required immunizations are administered by public health nurses to both children and adults. Appointments recommended.

Child Health clinic offers well child screenings for infants and children up to age 21.  Lead testing is performed on children from age 1 year through age 6 years.  Appointments are required for this clinic.

Maternal Health clinics   All visits are by appointment only:

Pregnancy Care Management services are available to pregnant women enrolled in North Carolina Medicaid and to a limited number of low income, uninsured pregnant women.  These OBCM's are social workers or nurses that ensure you receive the best possible care while you are pregnant and after you deliver your baby.

Nurse-Family Partnership is a program for women who are having their first baby.  If you enroll, a registered nurse will visit you in your home throughout pregnancy and continue to visit until your baby is 2 years old.

Miscellaneous: 

  • Hearing and Vision screening available and by appointment only.
  • Sickle Cell Counseling clinic is held at the health department the 4th Wednesday of each month from 10 am till 12 noon.  Appointments only.
  • Children's Developmental Services Agency from Wilmington, schedule their own appointments to do developmental evaluations here for local children.   Monthly speech and hearing clinics are also held here by appointment.

ADULT HEALTH/HEALTH PROMOTIONS: 

Screening Physicals Are provided for men and women by appointment only. 
Breast and Cervical Cancer Control Program (BCCCP): 
This is offered for women from ages 50 to 64 that are not eligible for Medicaid or Medicare.
