The Sheriff’s Office is comprised of multiple divisions providing many different services to the citizens of Columbus County. This office is pleased to provide this information service to Columbus County residents, visitors and those browsing the World Wide Web.
Columbus County is located in eastern North Carolina, bordering Bladen, Brunswick, Robeson counties and Horry County, South Carolina. Columbus County is proud to be the home of the North Carolina Strawberry Festival and the North Carolina Yam Festival. Lake Waccamaw is located within Columbus County and is the largest of the natural Carolina Bay Lakes with a total surface area of 8,936 acres. The lake is estimated to be 250,000 years old.
The Columbus County Sheriff's Office is made up of 104 employees dedicated to providing a professional and courteous, full service law enforcement agency for the county's more than 55,000 residents. This agency offers patrol services to Columbus County's unincorporated areas and provides varying degrees of support to all of the county's municipal police departments.
