Local Incentives
Columbus County has a strong incentive program designed to assist companies seeking to locate or expand facilities. Performance-based grants are offered on a case-by-case basis and are based on investment, job creation, wage levels and impact on the community. For more information, contact us.
State Incentives
Certain industries are eligible for additional incentives such as a state tax credit of $12,500 per new job created and a 7% credit on investment. More information can be found at North Carolina's Department of Commerce website.
Additionally, businesses that locate in the Southeast Regional Park and Tabor City Industrial Park may receive a tax credit of up to $14,500 per new job created because the industrial Parks are located in an Agrarian Growth Zone. Columbus is the only county in the region that contains Agrarian Growth Zones.
HUBZone
Columbus County is a designated HUBZone. The HUBZone Empowerment Contracting Program stimulates economic development and creates jobs in urban and rural communities by providing Federal contracting preferences to small businesses. These preferences go to small businesses that obtain HUBZone certification in part by employing staff who live in a HUBZone. The company must also maintain a “principal office” in one of these specially designated areas.
